Martin Opatrný

 FALCON UNCOVERED 

In the time he has been with us, Martin has gotten married, grew grey, bought an apartment and now he and his wife are expecting a baby. You'd think he'd be with us for a long time. . Together with the "founding fathers" he was already at the first team beer in Klatovy At the Rads.

 What do you do for Falcon?
I breathe for him. I'm such an "everything girl." Basically, if there's a problem, I try to solve it. Whether it be on my own or managing the great team that makes up the Falcon Cultural Center! So far, others have trusted me and have elected me for the second time as President of the Association - that's a big commitment.

 What does Falcon mean to you?
It's a dream come true. I have been in the cultural world in the Klatovy region on and off for almost 15 years and during that time I have often thought that it could be done in a different way. It's such a baby that has countless fathers and mothers. When you realize how many people have been involved, are still involved and cheering the whole project on, it almost brings a tear to my eye...

 What is your motivation to work for Falcon - even in the evening and even for free?
Imagine living in a city that doesn't have a Falcon - you don't want that. I'll be moving to Klatovy soon, and thanks to this cellar and the people around me, I can look forward to it. I feel like Falcon is positively influencing people's awareness of the plethora of cultural opportunities around the world. Revivals are constant repetition, self-creation can break established patterns and push us.

 What do you think Falcon offers people that makes it unique?
It is a refuge for all the alternative people of Posumava. In Falcon they found out that they are not alone, that they can work together on their dreams. If someone had told me 10 years ago that foreign performers would regularly play in Klatovy on weekdays, that live bands from all over the Czech Republic (even famous ones) would perform every week, that DJs would not be just buskers, or that there would be language courses with native speakers, I probably wouldn't have imagined it.

 What do you always like to go to the Falcon for?
To great sound. I really like how Standa Bouzek and Pavel Buchtele managed to pull it off. I almost don't go to other places anymore (small clubs) - I'm not satisfied with the sound. I'm really looking forward to see how each band will sound. It's almost an addiction. The tartan and the beer are just bonuses.

 Which of the performers who have not been in the club yet would you invite to Falcon?
I'd like a bigger foreign live electro name like Monolink (I'm already thinking about ) or The Atlas Collective, Solomun (Official), HILIGHT TRIBE, Omiki. From Czech performers I would welcome GAIA MESIAH (OFFICIAL)but it's hard to arrange. The center's capacity is unforgiving. Next, you need Michal Prokop s Framus Five, Radusa, Mutants Look for the Exit, WWW Neurobeat, Post-music, DMITRIEVNA.

 You and art?
You know, he who can't play football coaches...

 What are you most looking forward to now?
When my wife and I will have a little Miroslav or Jindřich (after the founders of Sokol). No kidding... the name is a big debate. but of course the anticipation is there.

 What's guaranteed to make you the happiest?
When I plan 150,000 activities for one day that are seconds apart and it works... it makes my adrenaline flow and it makes me feel good. .

 What can't you live without?
No action.
