Interview for Klatovy newsletter

How many events have you had to cancel this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic? Which of the events do you regret the most?

It's a bit more complicated than that. In order to keep the centre running, you need to plan actions long in advance and set up the individual processes correctly. Ventolin told us after one event to hang in there, that after two years the whole thing would break. And indeed - in March 2020, we finally had the ball rolling, events were arranged for a year in advance and everything was on track. We were rolling like a bulldozer and it's hard to say what we regret the most. Our 59 cancelled events could have simply improved the mood of a few thousand people, this way they were probably falling into sluggishness and domestic alcoholism. Otherwise Ventolin is a prophet, after two years things really broke, but probably a bit differently than he thought... I guess our biggest regret is that we couldn't celebrate the Falcon Club's 2nd birthday in the autumn, to which we had invited the excellent P/\ST, Dmitrievna and other libations.

Have you rescheduled any events for 2021 or are you planning any specific ones now? How do you see 2021 continuing your cultural activities?

In fact, we are now like cultural bears and have put the whole activity into hibernation. It's not just about arranging a quality event, and at the moment nobody knows what's going to happen tomorrow, so there's no arranging and waiting. We realized how shaky our cultural underground is and we are trying to find other ways of production. With a few associations we are setting up the Icebreakers of Culture initiative. We intend to broadcast LIVE STREAMS with various artists from interesting places around the country - from nature, castles, bridges or even from the Black Tower. The Falcon Cultural Centre is all about the inner strength of a group of people who won't give up on culture even if their knees get drilled. Stay tuned, as soon as it drops, we'll get it going again!

Has the pandemic affected your view of culture in Klatovy in the future? Are you planning to do something different?

Thanks to the huge support of the club's fans during the first wave of the pandemic, we realised how important the Falcon Club is not only in the cultural field in Klatovy. During the spring lockdown, about thirty performers from all over the Pilsen region came to support us through streaming events, which we appreciate tremendously. Some bands even played and still financially supported the club - that gives you a tremendous boost. It should be noted that since the beginning of its existence, the Falcon Cultural Centre has profiled itself not only as a music club, but also as an educational and community centre. Our club's team of people has grown considerably over the last year and is very diversified - this is our great advantage. This has been demonstrated during the pandemic. For example, the cooperation with the ADRA Volunteer Centre has borne incredible fruit. Our strategy of partnering with other communities and associations has proven to be the right one and we intend to continue it. So we are not planning to do something different, but better and with even more focus on partnerships and relationships. It won't be easy, it will start all over again - it will take at least 2 years to teach people to come to the Centre again - but it will be, we hope, a wonderful 2 years. We are looking forward to it! WITHOUT YOU, THERE WILL BE NO US!
